BENEFITS OF ADDING SQUALANE OIL INTO YOUR BEAUTY ROUTINE
I’m sure you’ve heard of many miracle ingredients which claim to transform your skin into the best it’s ever been within minutes. Some of them really work, some of them only claim to work and sometimes you might end up wasting your money as some of them simply don’t work for your skin type. Well, we’ve got something special for you! Have you ever heard of squalane? It’s an incredible ingredient that is suitable for all skin types, has extraordinary benefits for your skin and it just works so well you’ll never not have it in your skincare routine again! It’s especially helpful to use post at-home skincare treatments such as dermaplaning and the squalane oil in particular is literally made for your favourite face roller!
SQUALANE VS SQUALENE
First things first - what’s the difference between squalane and squalene, you might ask; is it the same thing?
Squalene with an “e” is actually a lipid or a fat that’s naturally produced by our body and particularly by our sebaceous glands. It makes up around 10- 12 % of our skin's natural oils.
Squalene actually becomes squalane by going through a hydrogenation process. Through this process the ingredient becomes more stable to be used in cosmetic formulas as it will not oxidise when exposed to air, giving it longer shelf life.
However, be cautious because squalene can often be derived from animal sources, the most popular one being shark’s liver. The most cosmetic companies have stopped using squalene itself because of its unethically and non-cruelty free properties. Nowadays, squalane is mainly derived from plants such as olives, rice bran or sugar cane.
BENEFITS OF SQUALANE OIL
One of the star properties of squalane oil is that it can be used on all skin types, even on oily or congested skin as it is non-comedogenic meaning it will not block your pores or cause breakouts.
Including this oil in your skincare routine will have some of the best benefits for your skin as it is an antioxidant, nourishing and ultra hydrating product. Squalane helps to lock in moisture into your skin, penetrating deeply into your skin barrier nourishing it from the inside out. Hence why, we love to use it after shaving our face!
Due to its antioxidant properties squalane oil will also fight against any skin damage or free radicals which might cause our skin to age prematurely. And, if you keep using squalane regularly it will also boost your collagen production. Paired with a derma roller 4 times a week, you’ll become an anti-aging warrior!
WHY IS SQUALANE OIL GREAT TO USE AFTER SKIN TREATMENTS
We highly recommend using Squalane oil after any form of skin exfoliation you might perform at home. Whether it comes to chemical peel, face scrub, or dermaplaning - the oil is especially beneficial when skin needs to replenish its moisture. All these treatments can be disruptive to your skin barrier, however the ultra hydrating squalane oil will treat your skin and deeply nourish it so it can return back to normal asap.
SQUALANE OIL AND FACE ROLLERS
Whenever you use a face roller or any other kind of massage tool you should be using an oil for an easier glide and better results. Squalane oil will not only make your sculpting routine more effective, it will also add in the benefits needed to achieve a healthy skin barrier. We love to use the squalane oil when derma rolling with our Roll Time as it makes our skin as glowy and radiant as it can get!
